Assessing psychological flexibility in adolescents: Validation of PsyFlex-A

Objective: To adapt and validate the Psy-Flex for adolescent population (PsyFlex-A). The aim was to analyse PsyFlex-A factor structure, reliability, model's invariance between genders, associations PsyFlex-A, sociodemographic variables, other variables of interest. Method: sample included 309 adolescents 12 18 years old (M = 14.91) a mean 9.56 education. participants completed protocol comprising set self-report measures assessing mindfulness skills (CAMM), cognitive fusion experiential avoidance (AFQ-Y8), psychopathological symptoms (DASS-21), perceived quality life well-being (KidScreen-10). A subsample 45 four weeks after first administration conduct test-retest reliability analysis. Confirmatory analyses (CFA) were used assess scale's structure. multi-group CFA conducted determine measurement across genders. Reliability validity also analysed. Results: presented single-factor structure model suggesting that results are comparable males females. Moreover, it revealed adequate internal consistency reliability. It showed positive with negative fusion/experiential symptoms. Finally, significant gender differences found, boys revealing higher values psychological flexibility than girls. Conclusion: proved be valid reliable instrument Portuguese adolescents' skills. may as screening in educational clinical settings.
